I've been frustrated both by the nationalistic response to war from the "organized" or "modern" church and by the nationalistic response from some in the house church movement. What seems to be missing from both sides is the thought that national boundaries shouldn't matter to the Christian... but justice should. The organized church is pro-war because the government is pro-war. Some in the house-church movement are anti-war because they don't believe the U.S. should invade another country. That is all well and good, but still is a "worldly" way to look at things. Aren't we citizens of another place... a place where earthly borders don't matter? Shouldn't we care (and have cared in the past) for the Iraqi plight... just as we would care for the person next door?

Sure, some innocent people will be killed in coming days... just as thousands of innocents have been killed over the past years at the tip of Saddam's sword. I hope we can all get beyond our earthly nationhood and rejoice that justice is being done for the benefit of the overwhelmingly vast majority of Iraqis. "Let justice roll down like waters..."
