My wife and I lived in Santa Barbara for about 8 years and it is an amazing place. It's gorgeous and has a lot of things to do, but the most amazing thing about it is the people. The best and the worst are there. Blatant pagan worship right along with my favourite church family anywhere. It's a town of contrasts, with the worst money worship and idolatry also leading to a small, but amazing group of believers who live an active Christian life because they have to be "different" in order to live a sane life. (This is true everywhere, but obvious evil makes it more obvious that we ought to live differently)
Boulder, Colorado is a bit the same way. The population is about the same and it is a dynamic town with a lot going on. Promise Keepers started there, and the phone book has a section for witches. I just read this story about what a catholic church there is up to. Check it out.
