Canada backs Kyoto alternative group

Woah... I didn't see this coming. Canada is pulling back from Kyoto. There's been a lot of press about the whole agreement lately - (here) - how the initial agreement is based on what is now thought by many to be flawed science. But Canada pulling back, that's a surprise.

I agree with our Prime Minister's stance on this issue.

Even British PM Tony Blair, who has backed the accord in the past, believes the fight against global warming by pressuring countries to cut CO2 emmissions will never be won.

He said, ""no country is going to cut its growth or consumption despite environmental fears."

Also, he emphasized a crucial factor where he noted that if his country were to totally reduce greenhouse gases to zero emmissions for a year, it would take an industrialed country like India only a month to offset there environmental acomplishment.

The fact of the matter is there are some countries that have signed onto Kyoto and there are some that haven't. If the global community doesn't acknowledge this disagreement, than there is no chance that this isuue will be resolved.
